Jungle Woman
I am a Jungle Woman
I am proud as can be.
I am a Jungle Woman,
So everybody look at me.
I was a little girl
Too afraid to be seen.
I couldn’t seem to choose
Which path was best for me.
I tried on many faces,
and kept myself safe.
From the eyes of the judgers
With hearts that dominate.
But you see I met a man,
One not so special night.
We fell in love, hard and fast,
When I was with him, my world was right.
He saw into my heart,
And led me to an abyss,
He asked me to jump with him,
And left me with a kiss.
But I sank beneath a blanket,
So nobody could see.
Who I truly was,
Or what I truly could be.
I had learned along the way,
To use my heart as a guide.
To follow it like a compass, so
I could no longer hide.
That I am a Jungle Woman,
I am strong as can be,
I am a Jungle Woman.
So, everybody look at me.
I came to this place.
A mythic land to explore,
I asked myself a question.
What was I looking for?
The answer hit me in the chest.
Like a bullet, to the heart.
To be one with, to be happy,
To choose who I am and with my man never part.
To be, a Jungle Woman.
To be strong as I can be
To be a Jungle Woman,
and have everyone look at me.
I trust in the direction,
And in the choice that I have made.
That timid, little girl,
Its time to let her fade.
Because now I am strong,
And now I am proud.
Now i’m a jungle woman,
So watch me, sing out loud.
